[CLOSED] DevOps Engineer - Permanent - Remote

Our client is recruiting for a devops engineer to join a fast-paced team to help scale and increase service offerings as part of international initiatives.

About The Company

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  1. Take ownership of day-to-day ops, devops, and security tasks, ensuring the availability and performance of cloud environments
  2. Develop and improve automation tooling
  3. Participate in the team's solution planning based on business cases
  4. Take ownership of individual problems and propose solutions to the Team Lead
  5. Contribute to multiple projects across the company
  6. Participate in code reviews and other collaborative learning opportunities, and apply lessons to new requirements
  7. Apply and stay up to date with industry best practices
  8. Write, maintain, and improve documentation
  9. Work alongside development teams ensuring automated software delivery pipelines
  10. Advocate for open-source technologies, infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and adhere to best practices in terms of security and governance

Key Skills

The successful candidate must be passionate and committed to learning new skills whilst working on multiple projects in parallel, responding to platform issues, continuously keeping in mind how the specific requirements fit into the big picture, and proactively suggest alternative ways to do things better.

Must Have

The successful candidate must have:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt)
  • Proven experience of building and managing CI/CD pipelines and automation
  • Experience running infrastructure of cloud platforms, appreciation for failure modes and HA architectures
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and a scripting language (e.g. Bash, python)
  • Knowledge of containerisation and deployments with Docker
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Excellent team skills, including written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to learn new things and experiment with new technologies
  • A focus on security and governance

Desirable

The perfect candidate will also:

  • Have hands on experience with other cloud providers (e.g. Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of cloud-native principles and architectures, including deploying serverless applications
  • Core networking experience (CCNA certified) - VPN, VLANs, routers, firewalls, loadbalancers
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Experience with git version control
  • Understanding of disaster recovery planning, scaling, high-availability, and backups
  • Understanding of NoSQL and SQL databases
  • Understanding of message-oriented middleware (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)
